This incredibly easy recipe for Ham and Cheese Bowties comes from Julie at Julie’s Eats and Treats.
Reasons I love it:
- Uses a stick of butter.
Let’s face it, a stick of butter makes everything better.
I discovered this recipe about a year ago after buying a 20 lb ham (on sale!) and then having to find something to do with 20 lbs of ham. Enter Pinterest and this amazing goodness. It’s perfect for a cold fall or winter evening, filling, warm, comforting and delicious. Julie is from Minnesota so the lady knows her comfort food.
I need to be honest here, over the past 12 months, my kids have either devoured Ham and Cheese Bowties and asked for seconds or completely refused to eat it.
Sound familiar? Right now we’re in a stage where our seven year old does not like ham or pasta, our five year old LOVES pasta except for, “the kind that looks like butterflies,” and the three year old is fully committed to a hunger strike outside of stealing Dove dark chocolates from the pantry when I’m not looking.
~ I usually throw in a cup of frozen peas, broccoli or spinach before baking. It’s an easy way to complete the meal and satisfy any need you have to hear someone tell you they don’t like green food.
~ If you are in a time crunch, you can skip the baking step and serve the pasta right from the stove-top.
