It’s always like “Oh, look at me I’m a short month! I only have 28 days and go so fast!” Then it never fails to be boring, gray, cold and slooooow. At least in Iowa anyway.
But this year, February brings a welcome reprieve from two of our busiest months of work at Five Island Spa Company. December is always nothing less than crazy and we spent January painting and redecorating our office space AND welcomed another incredible massage therapist to our team. So, now I’m taking a deep breath and diving back into important issues such as sharing Recipes My Family Doesn’t Hate.
Like these amazing homemade granola bars from Carole at My Kitchen Escapades.
We used to purchase box after box of store bought granola bars. They are a life saver for school lunches, quick snacks between activities, and chocolate cravings, but tend to be overpriced and loaded with artificial ingredients. I tried several recipes for home made granola bars and this one was a clear winner. Quick, delicious, simple, full of natural ingredients and so easy to tailor to specific tastes. Like white chocolate with cranberries and pumpkin seeds, or peanut butter and milk chocolate. Yum.
As you will see, these are not low sugar, so treat them a bit like a cookie and brush your teeth afterwards! (We’re currently obsessed with children’s Hello Natural Watermelon and Uncle Harry’s Natural Peppermint brands.)
Five: “I don’t like them. Do we have any in a box?”
Three *mouthful of granola goodness*: “cnnnaml mrihouc nnn” Translated: “Can I have another one?”
Two out of three isn’t bad… in fact, we consider that a grand slam in our house. Check out the full recipe and let me know what your family thinks!
