Ah, Hamburger Helper.
Back in the day when Josh and I first moved in together, Hamburger Helper was a staple, especially the cheeseburger macaroni- cheap, quick and de-freaking-licious. The same holds true today of course, but when I hit my late 20’s I realized that the massive amount of sodium in processed food (along with God knows what else) never failed to make me feel like crap. And now that we’re a family of five one of those little boxes would hardly cover one meal.
So I was PUMPED to find this copycat recipe for cheeseburger macaroni from Heather at A Southern Mom. Like the original it’s cheap, quick and de-freaking-licious. Unlike the original, there are none of the nasty ingredients and through the roof sodium content of processed food. It also makes enough for leftovers, which we live on for lunches.
I’ve got nothing. This recipe is simple and amazing as written, just make it already.
7: “I told you I don’t like noodles!”
5: “I told you I don’t like hamburger!”
Me: “No treat unless you eat supper.”
7: “Mmmm! This is good, can I have more?”
5: “I told you I don’t like hamburger… can I have some of yours?”
